Poetry for Justice Competitions: Different but Equal

Partnership of a knife and fork
Useful when you're lunchin'
Both, complementing the other
Each, a specific function.
Using a knife in place of a fork
Would potentially be doomin'
Another pair, different but equal:
MAN and WOMAN!

This was a very short poem by Chrystel Roberts from Zambia. Gender bias continues to be an issue all over the world, especially in emerging societies. Chrystel's poem is just about that - It's about man and woman, who are different by equal!
Our examiners thought it was the best poem submitted for the 2019 Poetry for Justice Competition. As such, she went home with the best prize. Congratulations, Chrystel. Your poem was the most intuitive and touched on the human right value known as gender equality.
